The calls for proposals under BioMan4R2 were CLOSED on July 2, 2023. Applications can no longer be submitted
For information: the BioMan4R2 team provided new versions of following documents:
- Business Transformation Application (Version from May 9th, 2023)
- Guidelines for applications (Version 2.0 from May 9th, 2023)
BioMan4R2 provides financial support to small and medium-sized companies (SME) in the life sciences and medical technologies sector that can be used in activities related to collaborative innovation projects, such as:
- business transformation (e.g. training plans),
- support for travel to explore markets in other countries,
- business continuity and resilience plans.
European SMEs from Biomanufacturing and MedTech sector can benefit from various service providers and experts to improve their effectiveness or level of innovation, valorization and/or marketing of products and/or services and increase their competitiveness by removing barriers or complications in the following areas:
Each SME may apply for more than one financial support, but may not exceed the established funding limit of €60,000.

General eligibility criteria
- Matching the thematic Scope of Activity for the referring financial support
- General eligibility of the applicant:
- a) be a single SME (SME definition of the EU), b) Located in EU and SMP-countries and c) Active in the Biomanufacturing and/or MedTech industry.
- Is no bankrupt or being wound up
- Is in compliance with its obligation relating to the payment of social security contributions and the payment of taxes
- Is not subject to a conflict of interest in connection with the grant.
- Submission of application in English-language
- Application must be submitted via the email address:bioman4r2.submission@bioregio-stern.de
- Submission of application until given deadline
- Threshold of financial support value for a single SME (SMEs as knowledge/service provider included): max. EUR 60.000 in total, therefore in terms of combining financial support, only a combination of multiple Business Transformation Financial support up to the € 60.000 limit is possible.
Evaluation process
- Two experts out of the BioMan4R2 consortium from different partner regions will evaluate each proposal. A local expert cannot evaluate a local applicant to ensure objectivity.
- Applications will be evaluated according following criteria: Impact, implementation and excellence.
- Each of the 3 criteria will be scored out of 15 for impact, 10 for implementation, 10 for excellence.
- Thresholds apply to individual criteria and to the total score. The threshold for impact is 8, for implementation 6 and for excellence 6 and the total overall threshold is 20.
- Calculation of final scoring as an average of individual assessments provided by the BioMan4R2 Evaluators.

Matchmaking Event
Access your meetings in My Agenda or Meetings, where you have your complete schedule for the event and the list of your meetings. Check your camera and microphone and don't be late!
How to initiate a Virtual Meeting?
- Identify promising participants on the Participants list or the Marketplace page on the event's website. Once you found a suitable meeting partner, click "Request meeting" to send them a meeting request.
- Use the Messages functionality to chat about common interests and availability.
- Click "View Profile →" to find out more about the participant
- If you would like to have a meeting with them, you can also request a meeting here.
- Check My agenda and Meetings for your schedule and your list of confirmed meetings.
- At the time of the meeting, go to the Meetings page and click on Start Meeting
- You can invite guests through the Invite guests button, or share your screen through the screen sharing button
- A virtual meeting can be started at any given time before its ending time and it won't stop automatically, one of the participants has to end it
- The remaining time will be displayed on the top left corner
- The next meeting card will be displayed with one minute before the next meeting
- Clicking on Start Next Meeting will end the current meeting and will start the next one
Technical requirements for Virtual meetings
The virtual meetings take place through the b2match video tool, which is integrated in the b2match platform and it doesn’t need to/it can't be downloaded.
- install the latest version of your browser
Use a device with an incorporated webcam or a webcam. Without the camera, the meeting can still take place in the audio mode.
Microphone and camera
You can test your microphone and camera in your Meetings list, once you are logged in to your b2match profile. In order to do this, you need to click the blue Camera and microphone test and follow the instructions.
If there are issues, the system will indicate the browser's documentation's regarding the microphone and camera usage
- browser's permissions to use the microphone and camera
- system's permissions for the microphone and camera
Additionally, you can do the following checks:
- test your microphone with other apps, such as Google Meet, Skype, Zoom, etc.
- run Twilio's network test, which will start an automatic diagnosis to check if Twilio has permission to use your microphone and camera
- Twilio is the name of the software we use for online meetings
